STEVEN FRANK is a graduate of the Guilmant Organ School, where he studied organ with George Markey, and Wagner College, where he later spent five years on the music faculty. He also studied with Walter Baker at the Mannes School of Music, Jasper Thorogood from St. Paul’s School in London, and Tyler McGlamry. Over many years he studied organ with Virgil Fox and once even shared the stage with him.

Mr. Frank has played concerts in most major New York churches, given numerous recitals at the former Gallery of Modern Art, and performed the New York premiere of Richard Bellak’s Fantasy for organ and brass at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. In addition, he has played many Virgil Fox memorial concerts.

In the fall of 2000 Mr. Frank was one of eight performers at the 20th Anniversary Virgil Fox Memorial concert at The Riverside Church in New York City, which drew one of the largest crowds at an organ concert in recent memory and was the subject of an article in the New York Times and Gothic Records released a recording of that concert. The following month Mr. Frank was honored to play the Wanamaker Organ at the Lord & Taylor store in Philadelphia. It is the largest playing organ in the world with 28,500 pipes controlled by a console with 6 keyboards and 729 color-coded stop tablets.

In addition to the Riverside recording, Mr. Frank has recorded two compact discs, Autumn Fires and Images. They both feature special sections to introduce children to poetry and the organ. Autumn Fires also includes a rare recording of the Middelschulte Perpetual Motion, a virtuoso work for pedals alone.

In 2009 Mr. Frank was honored to perform the opening concert at the Fifth Annual International Organ Festival at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

Mr. Frank is the immediate past Dean of the Queens Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and immediate past Chairman of the New York Theatre Organ Society. As President of the Virgil Fox Society, he has established the Virgil Fox Scholarship Fund, the purpose of which is to encourage and support talented young organists pursuing a future in organ playing by providing a scholarship or prize award. Several years ago he also established the Virgil Fox archive at the American Organ Institute.

Mr. Frank is currently the Music director and Organist at St. Jean Baptiste in NYC.
