STEVEN FRANK was a student of Virgil Fox and even shared the stage with him. He is a graduate of the Guilmant Organ School, where he studied organ with George Markey, and Wagner College, where he later spent five years on the music faculty. He also studied with Walter Baker at the Mannes School of Music, Jasper Thorogood from St. Paul's School in London, and Tyler McGlamry.

Mr. Frank has played concerts in most major New York churches, given numerous recitals at the former Gallery of Modern Art, and performed the New York premiere of Ricard Bellak's Fantasy for organ and brass at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. In addition, he has played four Virgil Fox memorial concerts.

In the Fall of 2000 Mr. Frank was one of eight performers at the 20th Anniversary Virgil Fox Memorial concert at The Riverside Church in New York City, which drew one of the largest crowds at an organ concert in recent memory and was the subject of an article in the New York Times.

The following month Mr. Frank was honored to play the Wanamaker Organ at the Lord & Taylor store in Philadelphia. It is the largest playing organ in the world with 28,500 pipes controlled by a console with 6 keyboards and 729 color-coded stop tablets.

Mr. Frank has a recording, Autumn Fires, on compact disc, made for the Allen Organ Company. It features a special section to introduce children to poetry and the organ, plus a rare recording of the Middelschulte Perpetual Motion, a virtuoso work for pedals alone.

As President of the Virgil Fox Society, Mr. Frank supervises the website, www.virgilfox.com, and the publication of The Clarion, the official newsletter of the society. The society also promotes occasional concerts and has recently established the Virgil Fox Memorial Scholarship Fund, the purpose of which is to encourage and support talented young organ virtuosos pursuing a future in organ playing by providing a scholarship or prize award.
